Oak staircase with turned balustrade
The commission covered the staircase to the first floor and the mezzanine balustrade, well over ten metres of handrail in all, including sections bent to a curve.

The handrail took the most work. On the curves we did not join it from short sections but bent it, so nothing shows at the turn and a hand runs along it without catching on any transition.
Spindles and posts were turned in our workshop, to a profile agreed with the client. Matt lacquer at the end, in the colour of natural oak.

Staircase and floor came from the same batch of oak, hence the matching tone.
The posts were turned in our own workshop.
The mezzanine balustrade runs unbroken along its full length.
The handrail is bent rather than jointed at the turn, so no seams show.
